An International Webinar on Automotives & Spare Parts was jointly organised by first year B.Tech (faculty of engineering & Technology), Raja Rajeswari College of Engineering, A.C.S college of Engineering & Office of International Relations of Dr.M.G.R Educational & Research Institute University on 1/8/20 at 6.00 pm.
The aim of this International webinar was to throw light on the challenges and opportunities in the field of Automotives in the present & in the post corona period. The aim of education is not only imparting knowledge but also inculcating skills & values. Even in this unprecedented time of pandemic & the continuous extension of lockdowns Dr.M.G.R Educational & Research Institute University is keen to provide opportunities to enhance our knowledge & to provide exposure about what best the brain wants.
This program was live streamed and telecasted in our You tube channel Dr.M.G.R Learn Smart. The program was hosted by Dr.Preetha George, Dept of Physics.
The programme started with a welcome note by Dean.(E&S) Dr.N.S.Shubhashree. Inaugural address was given by vice Chancellor Dr.S. Geethalekshmi. This programme was felicitated by Joint Registrar (academics) Dr.Cyril Raj. Keynote address was given by Joint Registrar (E&S) Dr.D.B.Jabaraj. The guest of the day was introduced by Dr. Sheba Selvam, Associate professor, Dept of CSE, Raja Rajeswari college of Engineering, Bengaluru. After the formal inauguration of the session, it was handed over to the speaker Mr.George.M.Schulligen, Retired V.P. Mercedez Benz, Germany.
Mr.George gave insights in German national training. He had elaborately explained what the industry expects from graduates rather than the degree, it holds the importance of effective communication, body language& a professional resume too. The session on automotive & Spare Parts was well received to the participants. Their enthusiastic participation made the session vibrant. Their curiosity was reflected in the brimming chat box in the form of queries. Mr.George had patiently explained all the queries eventhough he had intermittent net connectivity & unpleasant weather conditions.
The session was concluded by the vote of thanks by Dr.Kowsalya, Coordinator, Office of International Relations of Dr.M.G.R Educational & Research Institute.
The end of the story is the new beginning. With this note we witnessed & concluded a remarkable, knowledgeable session on Automotives &spare Parts.

Dr. Mohamed Shuaib Mohamed Saheed received his Ph.D. from UniversitiTeknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in 2014. During his study, he focused on the synthesis of carbon nanotubes for the detection of gases using the ionization principle. He is currently in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UTP as a senior lecturer and a member ofthe Centre of Innovative Nanostructures and Nanodevices (COINN). His research interests are mainly on the development and study of carbon-based nanomaterials such as CNT, graphene, MXene, and hybrids for various applications in sensors (strain, gas, bio-) and water remediation (oil, dye, heavy metals, organic solvents absorption/adsorption).

Dr.Mylswamy Annadurai, popularly known as Moon Man of India, is an Indian scientist working as Vice President for Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chairman of the board of governors, National Design and Research Forum(NDRF). Before taking this assignment he was with the Indian Space Research Organisation and served as director, ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore. During his 36 years of service in ISRO, he had some of the major contributions, including two of the major missions of ISRO, namely Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan. Annadurai has been listed among 100 Global thinkers of 2014 and topped the innovator’s list.
His works are mentioned in textbooks of Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education.
He has briefed about the various opportunities available in all the fields of engineering after post-COVID-19. He emphasized the engineers to utilize this situation to invent and develop more advancement in the field of automation, IoT, Industry 4.0, use drone technology to enhance the service in the agricultural sector.
May the aerospace and aeronautical engineering to invent and develop more nanomaterials to make the space crafts to be much more compact in comparison to the existing satellite.

Alumni of Department of Mechanical Engineering who are well placed in world class companies and those who are were contacted to share their technical knowledge that they have gained during their work tenure. Voluntarily they accepted to be a part of this webinar and gave attractive topics that would ignite craving of knowledge in the outside world.
Brochure was prepared after detailed discussion with Principal, HoD and alumni. Topics and dates were finalized and invitation link through Google Form was sent through WhatsApp, Gmail, LinkedIn, and other social media.
Participants from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Andra Pradesh registered and participated.
Registration was free and E-Certificate was provided to all the participants who attended all the sessions. Eminent alimni’s in their busy schedule agreed for knowledge sharing through this webinar with budding engineers. Totally 8 sessions were scheduled with Zoom meeting app.

One among them is the creative club, this program is to kindle interest in creative ideas among students of various departments. The club attempts to create an awareness of the student mind. This program allows students to develop their interactions among groups, helps enhance their creative and leadership skills. Department of Electrical and Electronics under the coordination of Prof.Pavan Kumar K.R selected the theme of SUGGI HABBA, Karnataka famous traditional festival. This event exhibited the rich heritage of Karnataka which symbolically presenting the heap of grains, KALASA POOJA tradition etc. They also exhibited the charts on sahithi’s ,different traditional plays ,Kannada proverbs, different grains used in Karnataka and history of kempegowda, sketches of Indian monuments.
Computer Science and Engineering Department
The department of CSE celebrated ONNAM Festival of Kerala under the coordination of Prof. Shwetha.In this traditional event of Kerala have exhibited several natural geographical features, famous KOCHI beach and fishing technique and demonstrated many different cultural attraction Kerala and exhibited Kerala heritage foods like banana chips, Jack fruit and its products.
Mechanical Department
Department of Mechanical Engineering under the coordination of Prof.Yellappa celebrated the theme of AYUDA POOJA and they presented posters of different forms of dance such as karadikunitha, Dollukunitha, Somanakunitha etc. They have also exhibited the photograph of ancient weaponry and agricultural things. Also displayed the automobile tools ancient coins.
Civil Engineering
Department of Civil Engineering under the coordination of Prof.Veena made and displayed the model of PALACE OF MYSORE (Amba Vilas).IT is a historical palace in Karnataka. Along with this displayed good and beautiful photographs of palace of different dimensions.
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Department of ECE exhibited a holy festival of Karnataka NAVARATHRI under the coordination of Prof.Girish. They have arranged and displayed the colorful dolls (gombe) is very much a part of the festivity.The students and staffs taken great delight in dressing up the dolls and in innovating new themes.Also they have worshipped the goddess Durgadevi and showcased Chamundi hills and Mysore Zoo.

About the Programme:
Rajarajeswari college of engineering, Bangalore has celebrated its 9th alumni meet “SAMANVYA-20” on 16th FEB 2020. Alumni association staff co-ordinators invited all the passed out students of RRCE for the meet.
The program was started with lighting the lamp followed by welcome address. Dean of alumni affairs Dr. Balakrishna and Principal Dr. T Chandrashekar addressed the gathering.
The alumni association vice-president Mr. Md. Yasin expressed his thanks to the management and principal for their continuous support in arranging annual alumni meet and secretary Mr. Sankeerth shared his view on supporting current students towards placement.
The Alumni expressed that they felt very proud about seeing the growth of RRCE in academic, infrastructure and placements. Also they showed their willingness to share their views and ideas with the current year students as this will help in improving their talents, confidence level to face their interviews in better way, also they expressed their gratitude towards the faculties of respective departments.

Technologies in metal forming such are being exhibited live by machine tool manufacturers which helps the faculty members to update and gain their knowledge in the field of advanced manufacturing systems.

About the Programme:
Smart India Hackathon is an initiative by Ministry of HRD. It is the world’s biggest Hackathon and an open innovation model. Smart India Hackathon 2020 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. The last edition of the hackathon saw over 5 million+ students from various colleges compete for the top prize at 65+ locations. In SIH 2020, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation. It can help to:
o Harness creativity & expertise of students
o Spark institute-level hackathon
o Build funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign
o Crowd source solutions for improving governance and quality of life
o Provide opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems
About the Internal Hackathon:
Students need to present their ideas for the problem statements given by different ministries Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs and companies given in the SIH portal. Objective:
The aim of the event is to finalize the best 5 teams from software projects and best 2 from hardware projects. These 7 teams will be the final entry to the Smart India Hackathon 2020.
A total of 75 teams had submitted their ideas for internal hackathon. After an initial department level scrutinization by our internal juries, 35 teams (14 software and 21 hardware) got selected for the college level internal hackathon. Outcome of the Program :
The Inauguration started on 25th September 2019 at Von Neumann Seminar Hall, with a prayer, lighting the lamp followed by an inspirational speech by chief guest Mr. Tokla Durga Rao. The various events are conducted by the co-ordinator like Technical Quiz, Coding and Debugging, Multimedia Presentation (Theme based), Technical Debate, Technical Paper Presentation, Technical Rangoli and Memory Master.
OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION (OBE) AND NBA ACCREDITATION is an initiative by VTU TEQIP 1.3. The program was organized for 5 day with eminent chief speakers with experience in OBE and NBA accreditation. 30 External participants from various VTU affiliated colleges and 20 internal participants from RRCE participated in this training program.
Day 1: 20-01-2020
The Training program started with inauguration by 9:30 am with our chief guest Dr. Rajanikanth, Ret. Principal, MSRIT, Bengaluru, followed by his session on Concept, need and importance of accreditation and Process of NBA Accreditation, Vision, Mission and PEOs. Next session was continued by Dr. Sadasivappa, Professor, RVCE, Bengaluru on the topic Goals of Vision, Mission & Institution and Experience sharing through papers and case study on Vision, Mission and PEOs.
Day 2: 21-01-2020
Dr. Senthil Kumaran, Professor & Dean Research, ACSCE, Bengaluru started the day 2 session on Design and Process of PSOs and Pos and SWOT Analysis. Later Dr. G. Vinoth, CEO Pongu Ventures carried the session on Aligning Innovation Ecosystem Strategies with Academic R&D. Afternoon session was delivered by Dr. Suresh Ramaswamy Reddy, Professor, BMSCE, Bengaluru on Identification of Curriculum gap and Content Beyond Syllabus.
Day 3: 22-01-2020
Dr. M. Nageswara Guptha, Vice Principal, SVCE, Bengaluru started the session with Student Centric Teaching Learning Process and Use of ICT Tools, Teaching methods in Laboratories and Quality of Student Projects. Dr. Suresh Ramaswamy Reddy, Professor, BMSCE, Bengaluru started the afternoon session with CO – PO mapping and computation, Experience sharing through paper and case study on CO-PO mapping and computation.
Day 4: 23-01-2020
The session started on Application of Blooms Taxonomy levels in CIE & SEE by Dr. Sadasivappa, Professor, RVCE, Bengaluru. Then with Faculty Performance appraisal and development system and Mentoring students by Dr. Pratap Reddy L, Professor, JNTU Hyderabad. Dr. Satya Prasad L,
Principal, Stanely College of Engg. & Tech for Women, Hyderabad started the afternoon session Onsite visit of NBA Evaluation team and Experience sharing on site visit of NBA evaluation team.
Day 5: 24-01-2020
Mr. Vinay Havalad, Sr. Product Specialist (OBE), Ionidea, Bengaluru started the final day session on Accreditation Process Simplified through IonCUDOS followed with Hands on training on IonCUDOS, by Mr. Yogesh Mahadevaiah Former Dy. To Commensurate the Golden Jubilee year of NSS, A 7th Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized at the RajaRajeswari College of Engineering, through National Service Scheme Unit Headed by Dr. Ananda Kumar K S, Associate Prof, Dept of ISE, NSS Programme Officer and Youth Red Cross wing headed by Dr. Vishwanath K C, Associate Prof, Dept of ME, Youth Red Cross Coordinator on 6th Nov 2019 wherein Lions Club of Bangalore South along with the, RRMCH Blood Bank, Narayana Hrudayalaya Blood Bank, Rastrottana Blood Bank, Red Cross Blood Bank, have participated. As many as 325 students and faculty have participated in 7th Voluntary Blood Donation Camp. 178 units of blood are collected in the campaign.

Outcome of the visit :
Initially, the students were shown how the layout is drawn using different software, like Mastercam Mill (version 9.0).It was used by them to draw the layout .The material used is a metal , they code the NC program for the same , they dump the code into CNC machine, where it uses the code, automatically shapes and cuts the material as coded in the program.
Later on the students saw many automated machines like drilling, milling & threading machines and learnt about their operations.
A while later, students were taken to their robotics lab. There, Mr. Narasimha Prasad, robotics lab in-charge, explained us how robots were developed, how the technology changed, how it led to the development of different kinds of robot we see today. We also learned what type of robots industries use and what kind of robots are used in non-industrial applications. We saw how the robots work and were taught how to program a robot.
Overall, the visit provided us with great source of practical knowledge, exposed us to the working environment. We learned a lot from our visit, it created a positive feeling amongst us. We were inspired by their work & skillset.
