National Science Day

National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated in RajaRajeswari College of Engineering with great enthusiasm on 28th of February 2018 in order to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect in India by the Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928. The theme of the year 2017 is “Science and Technology for specially abled persons”. The ultimate aim of celebrating the day is to provide awareness of Science among the engineering students. The following experts delivered excellent talks on different areas of science and the theme.

2. Dr. P R VIJAYASARATHY, Professor, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, ADARSHA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BANGALORE, INDIA on EXPLOSIVES AND PROPELLANTS.
3. Dr. TR GOPALAKRISHNAN NAIR, Rector, RRGI on SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SPECIALLY ABLED PERSONS.
The Programme was conducted in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Conference Hall, RRCE, and more than 600 students and faculty members attended the function. Competitions such as Debate, essay writing, collecting best research articles and paintings, and few cultural events were also conducted for students on the occasion.
The winners of various events (list enclosed) will be honored with prizes and certificates on the college day. Few photos taken during the national science day celebration is also enclosed.

“It is in this generation’s reach to transform gender relations, to empower women and girls, and humanity as a whole.” Along with millions of people around the globe, Rajarajeswari Group of Institution also celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, a day that honors the achievements and calls attention to the rights of women.  The world has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, so as were the chief guests invited for our Women’s Day Celebration.

Women achievers of all the group of Institutions were also felicitated by our Hon’ble Chairman on this great day recognizing their adherence and attainment.

The program was organized in ACS Engineering College auditorium. The women from all our colleges – Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Rajarajeswari Engineering College, ACS Engineering College and also Rajarajeswari Nursing College participate with a great fervor. The program proceeded with lot of cultural programs. Minimum 3 to 4 programs were flown by the teaching and non-teaching staff from each college. All the women present in the celebration were served lunch. The celebration ended with a great triumph.

Objective of the Workshop :

Workshop is meant to teach the participants simple mathematics and recognition of currency, signature and names…etc to Group D Staffs of RRCE. This workshop is meant to make them feel good and privilege.

Outcome of the event:

Majority of the women of group D participated who had no basic education. Some of them have attended only primary school; some of them had capability of apply mathematics mentally having no knowledge of writing. There were many participants who had good interest in learning, we could shape them individually could give attention. There were about 30 volunteers for the group. Most of them could recognize the number up to 1 Lakh, could add, subtract and multiply, recognize signature, names etc. The Second intension of the program to make them feel good and get confident was successful. As the program was spread for the complete day and the hospitality such as food and snacks were provided.

The fest begin with orchestra from faculties followed by Solo Singing, group singing with Instrumental, Solo Dance , group dance, Western & Classical, Dancing, Fashion Show etc. 35 events were organized for the students, from all the streams of RRCE participated in the above events and secured prizes. After prize distribution the most awaited DJ night engrossed the audience with the awe-inspiring music, the audience was just at the foot to dance themselves. The program concluded at 8:30pm in the presence of Management representatives & the College Officials.

Extensive Survey Camp

Extensive survey camp is a part of the curriculum for the students of sixth semester .The camp was conducted for duration of 10 days at Janapadaloka, Ramanagaram District 15th January 2017 to 24th January 2017.The students camped at Government premises adjoining Janapadaloka. Separate accommodation was provided for girls and boys.

The following projects were done by the students by rotation in the following sites.

1. New Tank Project near Government Engineering College, Ramanagaram
2. Old Tank Project close to Government Engineering College, Ramanagaram.
3. Village Project /Water Supply /Sanitation Project at the village Rajiv Gandhi Pura, Ramanagaram District.
4. Highway Project from Janapada Loka to village Rajiv Gandhi Pura, Ramanagaram District.

After doing the field work the students completed the required office work and prepared corresponding drawings .On final day they prepared the project report.

Sixth Alumni meet was held on 26th January 2017, headed by Dr. Balakrishna, Dean Alumni association, and Mr. Pavan Kumar K R, Dept. of EEE and member coordinators from all the departments. The function went on with great enthusiasm and spirit. The Alumni’s shared their views and gave few suggestion for the next meet.

The vice President of Alumni association announced that best project award will be given to best three final year projects for the academic year 2017-18. Later “SAMANVAYA” newsletter edition was released by our dignitaries. This news letter will tell the voice of alumni and other activities held, to be held in RRCE.

FDP objective: FDP titled “WSN and Scilab” is to impart skill necessary to start /forward the research in the field of wireless sensor networks .The objective is to make the participant free from of clutches of proprietary softwares. This program will also enable the participants to formulate the problem statement and established proof of concept using hardware.

FDP Outcomes:

     As the FDP was organized in collaboration with Nihan Communications Private Limited , Bangalore .The participants could get practical exposure and the current scenario of WSN.
     The participants understood the usage of modes, gateways and the cloud.
     They could successfully deployed the wireless sensor network (WSN) with multi modes, gates connected to the cloud through local data bases such as Laptops.
     The experience gained by the participants in their programming modes, gateways and cloud was Commendable. Many of the participants have registered for doing research in WSN.
     Apart from this they also learned the network simulation, using Scilab.
     The participants were also gained knowledge on Latex for documentation.
     The advances in WSN and research direction were obtained through expert lecture

Department of Mechanical Engineering Conducted Five Days Faculty Development Program on “Altair Hyper Works” from 17th to 21st January 2017. The Inaugural Function started at 10.00 am in the Edusat Hall.

Totally 55 participants from various engineering colleges, industries and research scholars were participated in the five days faculty development program.

Mr Sudhakar Velu, Principal Engineer, Terex India Pvt, ltd, was the chief guest for the inaugural function. After inauguration the chief guest addressed the gathering.

For clear understanding of programming concepts, compiler, operating systems, higher level languages and programming structures such as loops, arrays, strings, functions and pointer concepts.

Target Participants : First semester ECE students are invited to participate.

Outcome of the program/workshop :

  • Students have learned fundamentals of higher level language C.
  • During workshop they wrote programs of their own starting from simple input and output statements.
  • They were able to write programs independently using loop statements.
  • Programs for multidimensional arrays were made easy, they could write programs up to three dimensional arrays and strings.
  • The students were actively involved and expressed their satisfaction about learning C programming.
  • This workshop developed interest in the students for learning further and making small projects in the upcoming semesters.

Student shared their expertise by doing small project using the software, they were also happy to take up their project in Arduino board and implement new ideas on automation.

Resource Person : Mr. Harish Dayalan is an Embedded Developer and also alumini of department of electronics & communication engineering, RRCE. He has good experience of doing different types of projects such as home automation, Robos etc

Workshop Objective :

The student will gain knowledge of designing using embedded hardware. The students will improve programming skills in Embedded C and gain knowledge in circuit connections and designing, testing and debugging. The student develops a capacity to programme any type of microcontroller and working of different sensors and the objective is to make a movable project.

Target Participants : UG students of all related Engineering fields are invited to participate.

Outcome of the workshop :

Students have learned programming in Embedded C and tried variations in each program excise.

The Sensors such as gas sensors ,PAIR ,Ultrasonic were used to do the experiments such as
contents of Carbon Monoxide in the environment, motion detection and distance estimated
using Ultrasonic Sensor.

The experiments included LED and LCD displays for different programs.

Uncontrolled Robo was built in the second session and tested for movement in different direction with variations in distance.

Self balanced obstacle Robo was built, tested and run successfully.

The students were actively involved and expressed their satisfaction about learning and organization of the workshop.

Leading Educationalist from Dayton Visits RRCE

Professor Guru Subramanyam the Chair of Electrical and Computer Science & Engineering of Kettering School of Engineering University of Dayton visited the RRCE and ACS college of Engineering in the first week of September 2016. Prof. Guru a leading educationalist and expert in Micro Electronics and Communications is a well-known Principal investigator in a variety of high end Technology projects and a leading collaborator in the domain of ECE . He visited RRCE in the beginning and gave an excellent presentation on the Engineering capabilities on Electrical school . While in his address to the HoDs of the Departments of RRCE along with leding faculties he emphasized the collaborative mode of Education prevailing in Dayton and its relevance. Later he interacted with the faculties and answered the question. He also paid a visit to important laboratories of RRCE. The principal RRCE, HoD of CSE and Physics had detailed discussions with him on various aspects of Education and Technology. He was introduced to the forum by the Rector, Rajarajeshwari Group of Institutions.

Celebration of International Yoga day

On the event of International Yoga day, Yoga Club conducted Yoga Day on 24/06/2016 at ‘Abdul Kalam’ Conference hall, RRCE. Programme started with a welcome speech by Prof. Preethi A Nayak, Yoga Coordinator inviting International Yoga Champion Smt. Sowbhagya as a Chief Guest, Founder and Yoga Guru of Sowbhagya yoga kendra trust, Chennapatna. The Said Programme was attended students and Faculty members. Students and faculties practically experienced with Yogasahanas and Pranayamas. During the programme the speaker delivered the importance and benefits of various asahanas along with demo by other two expertises.

While on the subject Various Asanas like Tadasana, AdrdaChakrasana, Padma Hastasana, Trikonasana, PrasaritaPadottanasana, ParivarttaTrikonasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, Dhanurasana, Sarvangasana, Chakrasana. Pranayama Like Basthika Pranayama, Kapalabathi, Bhramari Pranayama,Omkara Meditation along with Surya Namaskara etc., and its various benefits like to increase our concentration, Memory, brain power, to heal all mental and psychological disorders like anger, stress, anxiety, or even depression ourself, helps to dissolve the extra fat boosting metabolism and controls obesity, quickness digestion, Improves body strength, reduces stress and tension, Cholesterol level control through various ashanas importance were explained. The group have personally showed the mistake & guided the audience.

Finally the Chief Guest Mrs. Sowbhagya concluded the programme by practically doing the Pranayama to all audience and also advised and shown interest to conduct yoga classes twice or thrice in a week. Finally Programme came to end by vote of thanks. Moreover this Programme was very Interesting & more Informative to faculty and Students.

FDP objective :

The FDP is to make faculties of Electronic & Communication Engineering to adopt to CBCS Scheme. There are subjects relevant to Computer Science & Engineering many of the ECE faculties are not comfortable in teaching Computer Science subjects which are Electives as per CBCS Scheme. FDP is an honest effort in presenting the subjects in a concise way by Industry / academic experts in the subjects.

Total number of participants : 40

FDP Outcomes :

  • 40 faculty members of different departments have attended FDP and taken benefit.
  • Family of ECE is now familiar with the elective subjects attended in CBCS VTU systems of for upcoming semester.
  • In addition to knowing the subject faculty of ECE and other department like CSE,ISE hare also received the tips for effective teaching
  • Some speakers have also demonstrated the pedagogy of teaching and learning which is most important for NBA accreditation and outcome based education.
  • Hands on sessions were part of all lecturers.
  • A lab session for “Microcontroller MSP 430” was well received by faculties of all departments.
