AICTE Sponsored One Week Hands-on Workshop On Advances In Communication Networks Using NS3

Objective of the Conference :
The primary objective of AICTE Sponsored One Week Hands-on Workshop on “ADVANCES IN COMMUNICATION NETWORKS USING NETWORK SIMULATOR – NS3” is intended to provide opportunity for Faculty members, researcher scholars and PG Students in AICTE approved institutions for upgrading their knowledge and acquiring practical skills in the area of Communication Networks. The goal of the workshop is to unite the faculty, PG students and research scholars to discuss latest trends & technology available for Wireless Sensor Networks and to bring together world-class educators and thinkers to discuss all aspects of Wireless Sensor Networks. The workshop is intended to give the participants a focused view on the role played by Wireless Sensor Networks. The workshop will provide the opportunities to flourish the knowledge and pursue research in this area. The one week program will enable the participants to understand the simulation of various wireless sensor network protocols and their analyses.
Outcome of the Workshop :
Advances in Communication Networks using NS-3 started with the inaugural function 10am on 11th December 2017, with all the dignitaries and the keynote speaker. After the inaugural function followed by tea break , ACNU using NS-3 chief guest and the keynote speaker Dr. L Pratap Reddy gave talk on “FLOSS Contribution to Information Communication Technology”. In the Post lunch session Mr. Balachandran Kamat delivered the talk on the topic “Connected Devices”. Mr. Nithin K conducted hands on sessions from day 2 to day 4 (12th -15th December 2017) regarding NS-2 and NS-3.Sixth day (16th December 2017) session started with expert talk on “Role Of Networked Control Systems Using Wire Less Sensors Network For Real Time Applications” by Dr. Polaiah B then next session by Dr. S. Rominus Valsalam on the topic “Research & development activities and research methodology for faculty development”. In Post lunch session the expert talk on “The Role of Communication Networks for Internet of thinks (IoT) specific use –cases “ was delivered by Dr. Jyotirmoy Karjee then followed by Valedictory function , in which the certificates for participants were distributed and participants were given good feedback about workshop . The one week workshop enabled the participants to understand the simulation of various wireless sensor network protocols and their analyses.

The program was commenced with the thoughts of almighty of GOD. Dr. R. Balakrishna, Principal RRCE (Chairman of the Program) welcomed the Guest Mr. M.M. Balakrishna, Principal of RRCE addressed the gathering and gave the importance of reference of IEEE journals/ publications to the students. The presence of Dr. T. R. Gopalakrishnan Nair, Rector, RRGI graced throughout the function. Prof. Sincy Elezebeth Kuruvilla, Asst. Prof. Dept. of EEE (Student Branch Chair) presented the brief bio-data of the Guest Mr. M.M. Babu Narayanan and gave an overview of the topic“Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS)” to the gathering.
The speaker, Mr. M.M. Babu Narayanan delivered an expert talk on “Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS)”. He discussed about the present and emerging challenges in large power networks and the relevance of WAMS in secure operation of power systems. The discussion covered WAMS components, applications in protection and control and comparison between SCADA where the magnitude of voltage and currents at different point in the system is made available where as in WAMS, these signals with phase positions are available to take necessary corrective actions and avoids blackouts. He has discussed about ongoing Indian URTDSM project in detail also. The session was very interactive and the knowledge shared by the speaker uplifted our students to a level forward.
The expert was felicitated with mementos by IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter and Management of Rajarajeswari College of Engg., Bengaluru. The program was concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Prof. Bharathi V , Asst. Prof. Dept .of EEE (IEEE Student Member). About the Programme:
A 5th Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized at the RajaRajeswari College of Engineering, through National Service Scheme Unit Headed by Mr. K S Ananda Kumar, NSS Programme Officer on 21-09-2017 wherein Lions Club of Bangalore South along with the Red Cross blood bank, RRMCH Blood Bank, Narayana Hrudayalaya Blood Bank, BGS Global Hospitals Blood Bank, Sushrutha Blood Bank, have participated. As many as 650 students and faculty have participated in 5th Voluntary Blood Donation Camp. 178 units of blood are collected in the campaign.

Workshop Objective : The objective of this FDP is to make the faculty comfortable dealing with high end processor such as ARM Cortex-32 and MSB-430 etc .The FDP is organized in such a way faculty get the understanding of processor/controller architecture in detail. The projects involved embedded based models of IOT such as Traffic Simulator, solar power, water supply for irrigation and many more using sensors. “MINI PROJECT EXPO-2k17” was informative and a grand success.

About the Programme:
Adverting to the above, we would like to bring this matter for your kind information that our Computer Science and Engineering department had organized a seminar on Awareness on Higher Education (GATE, GRE, IAS…) held on 29th August 2017.
The awareness aimed at providing a common platform for students to gain knowledge on acquiring higher education after their graduation in Computer Science and Technology.
Mr. Sarvendu Mishra Sr. Faculty from TIME Group delivered a talk on “Awareness on Higher Education in India and Abroad”.
Seminar was opened for 7th & 5th Semester students of CSE. Around 110 students attended and were motivated.
We thank the management for their Constant and continuous encouragement, the Principal for providing valuable directions and support in time.

Outcome of Event :
The objectives are to provide the faculty with an understanding of network engineering and digital networks. The learning outcomes include being able to identify what forms a network and how devices on the digital network communicate.
Faculty capabilities upon completion of the program include an understanding of techniques for information transmission between devices found on a digital network, an understanding of the types of devices found on a digital network and the principles for control of a digital network
The program outcomes include an introduction to the concepts of connection and connection-less information transmission over a digital network and the use of real time systems and services.
