Professional Societies for Engineers – 2023

The Department of Basic Sciences organized an awareness session on “Professional Societies for Engineers” on 24th November 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Conference Hall for the 1st Year B.E students. Dr.R.Balakrishna, Principal addressed about the benefits of Professional Societies for the perspective students. Resource Person Dr. L Rangaiah, Professor and Head, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, RRCE, explained the various International and National level Professional Societies and narrate the benefits of students membership in the professional society chapters and participating the events organized by the professional societies.. He highlighted the eligibility criteria to become a student member, membership fees, publications, events, awards, and scholarships offered by each society. He encouraged the students and the faculty members to join the societies and to actively participate in their activities. The session was attended by more than 650 first year B.E. students and faculty members from various departments such as CSE, ECE, EEE, ISE, CSD, R&A etc. Dr. A.S. Hariprasad, Prof. and Head, Dept. of Mathematics, organized the event, and the entire program was arranged and coordinated by the students.

Department of Civil Engineering and RajaRajeswari Institution Innovation Council (RRIIC), Bengaluru have jointly organized a Two Day workshop on “Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Structural Engineering” for the 3rd year & 4th Year B.E. Civil Engineering students of RRCE on 17th November 2023 and 18th November 2023.
The ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP was inaugurated by Dr.J.Amutharaj, President of RRIIC and Vice-Principal, HOD of Information Science and Engineering, RRCE, Bengaluru. This event is coordinated by Dr.K.Aravinthan, Professor and Head, and faculty members of Civil Engineering department in association with the office bearers of RajaRajeswari Institution Innovation Council (RRIIC).

The internal hackathon was held at RajaRajeswari College of Engineering on 23.09.2023. 54 teams participated in the Internal Hackathon. All the teams came up with the ideas reflecting the problem statement given by SIH (Smart India Hackathon).

Kalasourabha 2023 conducted meeting to decide the dates to host the college cultural fest. The team decided few dates and the same was discussed with principaland management.The management decided to conduct college cultural fest in spread out in many dates starting 17th June 2023 till 24th June 2023. The team started their preliminary preparations to conduct the event sin a very systematic manner. First the coordinators were selected by means of interview process and only the best of the best were selected among many volunteers. The team decided to conduct off-stage events for first 2 days and on-stage event on the 3rd day of the decided days. The given schedule was followed to carry out the events on day to day bases from

Major Session Contents:
Mr. R. Sathish Raj inspired the ECE students by speaking about Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam and his dreams.
He gave a clear understanding how to take care ofsocial issues while setting up an entrepreneurial venture.
The session taught our students how to dream, what are the pillars of life.
The major points covered in the Technical Talk are the following :
• Goals and dreams
Align your goals and dreams in such a way that they focus on the 6 pillars, namely- mental health,
physical health, family, finance, spirituality or connection with god and social responsibility.
• Gratitude journal
Write a few things you’re grateful for each day.
He also mentioned a quote that I really liked- when your eyes are positive, you’ll love the world.
When your mouth is positive, the world will love you.
• A brainstorm journal to basically keep a track of/ make notes on the TED talks you’ll
listen to or the inspiring content you consume

• It’s similar to a brain dumb where whenever you’re stressed, you’ll write down all the
negative thoughts on your mind to clear them from your head.

He also mentioned something called RAA i.e., Read, Ask and Action which means that if you want
to do something, first read about it, then ask people who have similar experiences to the thing you
want to do and get their feedback and lastly act on it.

World Environment Day – 2023

World Environment Day 2023 celebrated jointly by RajaRajeswari Institution Innovation Council (RRIIC), Green Club and NSS of RajaRajeswari College of Engineering, Bangalore on 5th June 2023 Monday.

Trees were planted in the college campus. Students were given sensitization on how to preserve the mother Earth and environment and special mention on “Go Green & Clean Next”. Students were motivated to grow trees and plants in their house gardens and avoid plastics to reduce land pollution, water pollution and air pollution.
Mr. Devaraju V, Chief Guest has narrated how forest department is taking initiatives to maintain natural ecology in the forest and nearby regions. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved in environment friendly activities. People come together to pledge towards building a greener planet.

Keeping this aim in view, NSS & GREEN CLUB Unit celebrated World Environment Day on 5th of June 2023. Students of various branches from department participated and celebrated world environmental day enthusiastically. They were asked to plant a sapling to create a green corner. A lot of enthusiasm was seen in the students. The event was conducted successfully with whole hearted participation and awareness about plants.

RajaRajeswari College of Engineering celebrated Green day on 05/06/2023, Monday at RRCE campus. Go green is a step to conserve our nature and lead eco-friendly life, which will help us as well as nature to sustain the natural resources for future generations. A clean and green environment always calms our minds and helps us to reduce stress.
Mr Devaraju V, Deputy conservator of forest, Ramanagara territorial division Govt of Karnataka chief guest as planted tree in campus and narrated how forest department is taking initiatives to maintain natural ecology in the forest and nearby regions.

The event had in attendance, Heads of Departments across the faculties of the college. The committee was represented by Principal, Vice Principal, faculty members, NSS Volunteers Participated in this event Plantation: ‘ Let’s nurture the nature so that we can have a better future’, So we the group of RRCE Green Club and NSS have taken the initiative to make our campus as Green and Clean by plantation. The club focuses on churning out different ideas from students which in turn helps in enhancing their individual thinking and perspective. Selecting the best idea and implementing that, helps in improving learning, decision making, imagination, collaboration and teamwork among students. Creative Club helps students to enhance their creative skills.
Ice breaking:
Ice-breaking activities can increase solidarity between participants. It is possible that the participants do not know each other. With this ice-breaking activity, the participants can get to know each other. Most importantly, doing ice-breaking activities can train our concentration. Memory matching game.
Communication game:
The goal for this game is to teach participants how to communicate well without using words. Non-verbal communication is essential in the workplace, as it allows people to better understand each other in a group. The larger the team, the more effective this activity can be for them.
Memory games:
Memory games can improve your memory, attention, focus, processing speed, and problem-solving skills. They can also reduce your stress, enhance your mood, and increase your confidence. By playing memory games, you are stimulating your brain cells and strengthening the connections between them.
Action Pass On:
The leader is the one who picks 2-3 movements and passes them to the next person. Everyone keeps their eyes closed except the players who are passing the movements. At the end, the last player shows everyone the movements they got to see if they match up with the original.

Campus communities need a place to come together, now more than ever. The activities from in-person to virtual settings in light of the COVID-19 crisis, campus event organizers are looking for new ways to engage students digitally. The attempts were made by the creative club to create something new and allow the students to think, develop and explore the ideas digitally.

Letters for building words:
The participants have to spelling out alphabets (as in a contest) with the use of only those letters found in a particular word or phrase within the stipulated time. The winner was announced based on the highest number of words identified and phrased the sentence from the identified words.

Memory matching game.
Matching games improve language, concentration and memory, improve concentration, train visual memory, increase short term memory, increase attention to detail, improve the
ability to find similarities and differences in objects, help to classify objects that are grouped by similar traits. where the participants were given 60 seconds to rapidly answer a series of questions which decided the winning teams of the event.

A Parent-Teachers Meeting was conducted on 22-09-2023 from 10:00 AM – 12.00 Noon in the Department of MCA, RRCE.
The parents were intimated through the student official groups well in advance through class teachers and mentors.

  • 15 parents are attended this meeting.
  • Interaction between Parents, Class Teachers, Subject Teachers and Mentors was done. There was a discussion on student’s performance in individual subjects, students discipline in classrooms and their attendance percentage.
  • Mr. SujeethPawar and Mr. Pavankumar B K parents were happy with the way the department was conducting academically.
  • One parent also enquired what kind of placement arrangements are done for their ward.
  • The Class Incharge Mr. Shreedhar Kumbhar, Dept of MCA discussed in detail about the Previous Results, Academic Calendar, Internal marks and their last working day.

Introductory remarks about Innovate 2K23 was given by Dr J Amutharaj, President-RRIIC & Vice Principal. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr C Ramesh, Convener- RRIIC, Professor & HoD-Mech.

The students of 8th sem actively participated in Project prototype exhibition and displayed their models and explained. 3 batches was selected as prize winners and awarded with momento and certificates. Objective of this program: is to improve the general quality of life of village people by sensitize them on maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation.
In this camp, NSS Programme Officer, NSS Members and 50 NSS Volunteers are actively participated; They cleaned the temple premises like main road, parking area and temple park. The NSS volunteers visited more than 110 houses and met village people & explained on how to
maintain hygiene and cleanliness in houses and surrounding areas to avoid mosquito generation and avoid spread of diseases in the village.

  • The event started with welcoming the alumnus for the event by HoD-CSE Dr.S Usha and Alumni head Dr. Savitha B, Department Coordinator Ms. Manasa GV Kumar, Pre final year students of Computer Science & Engineering students participated.
  • Around 110 students from Computer Science & Engineering participated in the event. He went through all the mistakes he came across in his engineering life that let him down and later told about the moral support he got from his mentors that made him stand in this position today.
  • He let us knew about the importance of why when and how to concentrate on placement trainings helping in getting placed with highest LPA that makes us stand unique among others. He later guided us regarding the points where we all go wrong in this peculiar and precious engineering life.
  • He even told us about the Resume building and the interview tackling techniques, finally he told us how strong an engineer would stand if you would utilize engineering period as a serious one and lead our life to success. Students have given the feedback
    to organize such events to get more exposure to present requirements and have a relation with passed out alumni.
  • After the interaction with the students, the resource person was honored with Memento as a token of appreciation to conclude the event.
